Summary

A promise to stay together。
An unbreakable bond。
A fierce will to survive。

From international bestselling author Heather Morris comes the breathtaking conclusion to The Tattooist of Auschwitz trilogy。

When they are girls, Cibi, Magda and Livia make a promise to their father - that they will stay together, no matter what。

Years later, at just 15 years old, Livia is ordered to Auschwitz by the Nazis。 Cibi, only 19 herself, remembers their promise and follows Livia, determined to protect her sister, or die with her。

In their hometown in Slovakia, 17-year-old Magda hides, desperate to evade the barbaric Nazi forces。 But it is not long before she is captured and condemned to Auschwitz。

In the horror of the death camp, these three beautiful sisters are reunited。 Though traumatised by their experiences, they are together。

They make another promise: that they will live。 Their fight for survival takes them from the hell of Auschwitz, to a death march across war-torn Europe and eventually home to Slovakia, now under iron Communist rule。 Determined to begin again, they embark on a voyage of renewal, to the new Jewish homeland, Israel。

Rich in vivid detail, and beautifully told, Three Sisters will break your heart, but leave you amazed and uplifted by the courage and fierce love of three sisters, whose promise to each other kept them alive。 Two of the sisters are in Israel today, surrounded by family and friends。 They have chosen Heather Morris to reimagine their story in her astonishing new novel, Three Sisters。

Book received for free through NetgalleyLike the previous two books I’ve read from Heather Morris this book is written amazingly。 She has a way with words that crafts a difficult subject in a way that makes you feel a part of it, does well with the subject matter, and feel for the people living within it。 Definitely a part of history we should all remember so it does t repeat again。

This is another good installment of the Auschwitz experience by Heather Morris。 Featuring three sisters, it conveys the importance of family, strength, perserverance, love and survival。 It's hard to read at times and rather depressing, not due to the writing but because of the subject matter。 But it gives us insight into a very important but horrible time in our history。 Important so that it never is repeated。 My thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for providing a galley of this book for revie This is another good installment of the Auschwitz experience by Heather Morris。 Featuring three sisters, it conveys the importance of family, strength, perserverance, love and survival。 It's hard to read at times and rather depressing, not due to the writing but because of the subject matter。 But it gives us insight into a very important but horrible time in our history。 Important so that it never is repeated。 My thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for providing a galley of this book for review。 。。。more

It’s been a while since a book kept me up to the early hours, or made me cry (sob is probably the better word), let alone both。 I devoured this quicker than I have any book in a long time, and to no surprise, Heather Morris has done it again with her beautiful and bittersweet recollection of the strength, hope and bravery shown during some of the toughest times in history。 I strongly encourage you to read this book, share in the tales, the heartbreak and the joy, and remind yourself just how luc It’s been a while since a book kept me up to the early hours, or made me cry (sob is probably the better word), let alone both。 I devoured this quicker than I have any book in a long time, and to no surprise, Heather Morris has done it again with her beautiful and bittersweet recollection of the strength, hope and bravery shown during some of the toughest times in history。 I strongly encourage you to read this book, share in the tales, the heartbreak and the joy, and remind yourself just how lucky we are today, thanks the strong and brave people who came before us。 Let us vow to never stand by such an atrocity, ever again。 。。。more

drags on but a fair readCompared to The Tattooist of Auschwitz and Cilka’s Journey, this one does not compare。 It just seems to drag on and on。 I lost interest in this one about half way through。 Not recommended。

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 I enjoyed the book! I really didn't love the stories of the sisters once they got to Israel, only because for two of them, it felt like they just forgot what they'd been through and they find husbands, and have babies and that's the end。 Livia had the most depth, but I was also the most annoyed by how her sisters infantilized her。 She was a grown woman! I suppose I could place some blame on the narrator, not the author, who voiced this character to sound like a small child when she was 20+ years I enjoyed the book! Simply beautiful, and so heartbreaking at the same time。 This book literally brought me to tears。。。 I haven't gotten so emotional about a novel in a long time。Out of all of Heather Morris' novels on the Holocaust, with Three Sisters, I feel that she portrayed the terrible events of these sisters with such honest clarity, truly highlighting the horrors of their experiences in the Auschwitz death camp, more so than within any of her other novels。 Not only was this story devastating real, and marke Simply beautiful, and so heartbreaking at the same time。 This book literally brought me to tears。。。 I haven't gotten so emotional about a novel in a long time。Out of all of Heather Morris' novels on the Holocaust, with Three Sisters, I feel that she portrayed the terrible events of these sisters with such honest clarity, truly highlighting the horrors of their experiences in the Auschwitz death camp, more so than within any of her other novels。 Not only was this story devastating real, and marked by memories that will embed themselves within the reader's minds as well, but it also explored the strength of the human spirit and the bond of three ordinary sisters whose lives were forever changed。 I love that the underlying theme of the entire novel is 'family' and that just goes to show the strength of family, even in the worst possible circumstances。 。。。more

This audiobook was given to me by NetGalley for my honest opinion。 Another great book by Heather Morris。 The story starts out in Slovakia June 1929 and takes us through the trials & tribulations during WWII。 In 1929 the three sisters (Livia- 7 years old, Magda- 5 years old & Cibi-3 years old) making a promise to their father and try the best they could to keep that promise。 This a heartbreaking story of the life these 3 girls lived during the Holocaust。

This book artfully conveyed pain, trauma, and hope。 The true story of devotion and love it projected was a joy to read。 I particularly liked how it explored the aftermath and the ‘promised land’。

This is a heart wrenching book about a period of time that should never be forgotten。 World War Two and The final solution is, I think, still taught in schools but these real stories explain it far better that makes dry textbook。Cibi, Magda and Livia lived through the final solution。 They explain the true horror of life in the concentration camps and the author deals with it sensitively without diminishing the strength of the women。。 it was a great read and reminded us of this period of history。 This is a heart wrenching book about a period of time that should never be forgotten。 World War Two and The final solution is, I think, still taught in schools but these real stories explain it far better that makes dry textbook。Cibi, Magda and Livia lived through the final solution。 They explain the true horror of life in the concentration camps and the author deals with it sensitively without diminishing the strength of the women。。 it was a great read and reminded us of this period of history。 I loved the notes at the end explaining how the book came to be and where the people mentioned are now。Thanks to Bonnier books and NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review。#ThreeSisters #NetGalley 。。。more

This is the third in a series of books by Heather Morris that began with the beautiful remembrances of Lale Sokolov (“who might just have a story worth telling”), a survivor of the Holocaust。 Ms。 Morris has done detailed research and breathed life into a story that must never be forgotten。 The books can be enjoyed together or each can easily stand on its own。Cibi, Magda, and Livia live in Slovakia with their parents。 In 1929, while Magda is hospitalized due to illness, her youngest sister Livia This is the third in a series of books by Heather Morris that began with the beautiful remembrances of Lale Sokolov (“who might just have a story worth telling”), a survivor of the Holocaust。 Ms。 Morris has done detailed research and breathed life into a story that must never be forgotten。 The books can be enjoyed together or each can easily stand on its own。Cibi, Magda, and Livia live in Slovakia with their parents。 In 1929, while Magda is hospitalized due to illness, her youngest sister Livia is told to report to work for the Germans。 Her older sister, Cibi, refuses to allow Livia to go by herself, and voluntarily joins。 There is no “job”, though, the young ladies, along with hundreds of others, are forced into cattle cars and shipped to Auschwitz。 Magda is eventually caught and ends up at the same camp with her sisters。 When they were very young, they made a promise to their father to always stay together, no matter what。 With this promise giving them strength beyond reason, these three young women persevere in conditions no living mammal should ever endure。The story has a strong thread of love, support, and undying devotion between these sisters and others they meet while in custody。 It’s a written history of the will to live, the strength of love, and the commitment of sisters to one another。My absolute favorite part of Ms。 Morris’s books are her “Author’s Note” and “Acknowledgements” at the end of each。 This book has an added bonus: “Afterward” comments from the subjects of the book。 How better to end a tragic history but with positive notes and evidence of loving survival?Sincere thanks to St。 Martin’s Press for an ARC in exchange for my honest review。 The publishing date was October 5, 2021。 。。。more
